Surfing
Windsurfing at Walchensee
Without exaggerating, it is fair to say that the Walchensee is one of the most beautiful surfing areas in Germany. Not necessarily from the strength of the wind, but from its picturesque backdrop. Lake Walchensee is framed by Jochberg, Herzogstand and the Karwendel mountains. It lies at 802m above sea level and is correspondingly cold, but also very clear. Until well into early summer, there are still remnants of snow on the Karwendel mountains, making surfing here an unforgettable experience.

Water sports
Stand up paddling on Lake Kochel and Lake Walchensee
A board, a paddle and water - that's all you need for a day on the water. What's more, stand up paddling (SUP) is easy to learn and suitable for everyone, no matter how old or fit you are - as long as you can swim. Because this is a prerequisite for everyone to be able to set off with a board and paddle. Gliding relaxed on a board over the water, paddle in hand, eyes wandering into the distance - there's a reason why SUP has evolved from a leisure trend to an established water sport. Simply seeing the natural scenery in a different way, standing in the middle of the water, is probably one of the greatest attractions.

Diving in the Walchensee
The Walchensee with its clear, deep and fish-rich water is nestled in a magnificent mountain landscape in a nature reserve. Mysterious myths, from the ``Giant Waller`` on the lake bed to the sunken gold treasure of the Benediktbeuern monastery, make the Walchensee particularly interesting. At 192 meters, the Walchensee is one of the deepest lakes in Bavaria. Apart from the temporary diving bans, this diving area offers up to 13 different sites. The shores, which are accessible almost everywhere, offer gently sloping sandy beaches, plant regions, rocky cliffs, scree slopes, drop-offs and overhangs.

Campendon Museum
Museum Penzberg - Campendonk Collection
At the age of 21, Campendonk came from the Rhineland to Upper Bavaria in 1911 at the invitation of Marc and Kandinsky and became the youngest member of the artist community ``The Blue Rider``. In his search for his own motifs, he was impressed by the mining town of Penzberg with its special colony houses, winding towers and chimneys. The museum houses the largest collection of works by Heinrich Campendonk in the world. Reopened in 2016, the museum's twin building has become an attraction in the cityscape with its vibrant dark clinker brick façade.

The exhibition in the historic glassworks features two large melting furnaces with an agitator for glass production, display boards and tools for glass and metal processing, optical instruments and much more.

Let go and reach your goal. Picking up and lifting the bow, tensioning the string and releasing the arrow is only a small part of archery. But it's about more: concentration, body awareness, coordination of body and mind, internalizing the technique and focusing on the goal. You should bring 2 hours with you.
